Niño Jesús del Remedio Special Education School
This is a Special Education Centre primarily for students with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities, which is subsidized by the Community of Madrid.
We try and get our students to promote their intellectual capacity to the maximum, by arousing their interest in learning and communication and trying to make them improve in instrumental areas, in their abilities to understand and express themselves, in analysis and in workshop activities.
But our main objective when it comes to our students goes beyond instrumental learning. We think it is essential to favour the highest level of personal development in them as possible. We also want them to improve their social skills. Favouring their adaptive behaviour helps them to be more INDEPENDENT in all areas.
That is why we encourage situations that promote forming proper relationships, by working on the necessary social and job skills to attain a higher grade of independence and integration into the job market and society.
Moreover, we try and make the values of our ideology yours and we highlight enhancing physical, psychological and spiritual development, raising the awareness of others’ needs, promoting mutual respect and active participation in society, etc.
We have the following structure for all this:
- For students from 12 to 16 years old: Basic Compulsory Education
- For students from 16 to 21 years old, a double itinerary:
- Specialised Professional Programmes:
- Support operations in general and administrative services
